Under Condo Construction – Part Dos (2)

It’s been another busy day at Carrie’s new beach condo. Today, Carrie shows off the progress of her condo’s makeover. Since she couldn’t be in the unit while construction was underway, Carrie fills you in on all the places she toured while killing time in Myrtle Beach!

Under Condo Construction

After safely arriving to her studio beach condo, Carrie reveals the exhausting process of moving out of state only to immediately have her condo go under construction.

Sojourning South

After much anticipation, both the settlement of my York, Pennsylvania property as well as the settlement of the Myrtle Beach property went smoothly yesterday. Today, I sojourned South to my new home at the beach! Stay tuned for more…

God Said It And I Believe It…

When I was a child, I remember singing a catchy tune that went like this, “God said it and I believe it and that’s good enough for me!” As a grown 40 year old woman, I am once again seeing what God says will manifest. If God calls you to it, He’ll see you through it. Just listen to this…

After approximately 6 months of my home being on the market, I received an offer and passed the home inspection with only a couple of repairs requested. YAY! Anyone who has sold a home knows how exhausting it can be to have people frequently tour your home at random times. It is especially difficult being out of the house with your dog in the winter for each showing. You could say I was overwhelmed at times. Nevertheless, I pressed on with the endless cleaning, staging, paint touch ups, and so forth. In the real estate market here in the City of York, Pennsylvania, homes can be on the market for over a year. Unfortunately, for a seller there are just too many row homes to choose from. Thankfully, because I listened to the Lord for the timing of when to list, how much to list it for, and when it would sell, it all worked out just as God said it would.

Interestingly enough, back in November just a few weeks after I listed the house, the Lord told me settlement will take place in April. God even encouraged me to document it in my journal to further prove to me I hear Him (see above pic of my journal entry). Sure enough when the offer arrived, the buyer requested a settlement date in April – just as God said!

I can tell you I’ve made some guesses in the past about things and never been correct, but when you know God whispered truth to you, you can rest assured it will all manifest just as He said it would.

How good it is to have a personal relationship with an all-knowing God!

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Recently, I felt the Lord call me to the beach. Specifically, Myrtle Beach. Initially, I resisted, but eventually gave in. Turns out this mountain girl favored the beach for once! Not that I am opposed to any beach (except Ocean City, MD…to me that is, Ocean Pity!). In general, I prefer the woods over sand, but to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Myrtle Beach. The last time I was there I was just a kid and all I really remember is getting caught in a wave’s undertow. Not too fun!

Nevertheless, while there, per the Lord’s leading,  I even got to prophecy and pray for a pastor as well as an unsuspecting, but receptive woman. Both seemed to be pleased with the love of the Lord through prophetic prayer.

That is what it is about! Going where He leads even though you don’t know why or what it will look like. Just go! Consequently, I see in my future beach evangelism, prophecy, free hugs, praying for people, leading worship on the beach, and baptisms in the Atlantic. How cool would that be?

If you haven’t been to Myrtle Beach, it is a gem.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do!

breaking-up-is-hard-to-doI have just so many things to purge in this 5 bedroom home before we move into an RV and it is challenging posting individual items on craigslist while coordinating schedules for various people to come pick up the stuff. And since it’s all got to go at some point, I decided to have “FREE Fridays” where I advertise a menu of things I am giving away that week and people can come between a certain time (Noon to 4pm, for example) to come pick up whatever they want. If they’d like to donate to my cause, great, but if not that’s totally cool with me. Nobody goes into this to get rich…at least not a worldly kind of rich but rather to enrich the Kingdom of God.

I figure by doing Free Fridays in phases or layers it will be a little easier and less stressful to break up with my stuff. The whole process of downsizing has forced me to prioritize what is genuinely needed versus what is just nice to have. Overall, it has been an immensely liberating experience. I highly recommend it. Live simply.

Park It!

If you are looking for a bit more privacy and spectacular views when camping, you may want to pass on the typical RV parks. Instead, you could explore the plethora of other public parks our beautiful country boasts!

Before you hit the road though, you may want to investigate the intended park’s campsites and if your RV will fit. Camper Report did extensive research saving you time and potential embarrassing moments. Click here for Camper Report’s video on what lengths are best for parks like these. You can also check out Camper Report’s full report here.

After you know your RV size, here are a few options of camping wilderness to consider…

National Park Service

highwayCheck out this link to search for National Parks in your state or any other state you are thinking of visiting. If you already know the names of the parks you are interested in, this same link will provide more information about the park you selected.

If you are like us and plan on visiting many National Parks within the next year, you may want to invest in their annual pass giving you access to all the National Parks. This expense is just $80 and well worth it. National Park Service also offers other passes that may suit your adventurous needs.

US Forest Service

mfSimilarly, camping at a National Forest may beckon your adventurous spirit. If so, check out the US Forest Service’s site for more information. You can also search for places to see and things to do through their site. Check it out here!

You may also find this link with various maps helpful courtesy of the US Forest Service.

State Parks

What about if you want to visit or camp in a state park? Here is a helpful site to get you started. It’s called America’s Parks.  What I love about this site is once you click on the State you are interested it, if you click on the region, this site will list for you the State parks within that specific region of the State, which saves you much research time. Be sure to find out what the fees are to camp and what the deal is with RVs staying there. Some states offer annual passes saving you bundles – this is particularly appealing to full-timers like us!

Overall, National Parks, US Forest Parks, and State Parks are some pretty sweet and affordable options just waiting for you to explore or even to call home!

Hiking During the Open House

Kilgore Falls, Maryland

This past Sunday, our realtor hosted an Open House and had a fair amount of people coming through the home especially when you consider it was a blustery cold autumn day. While our realtor got to work, the hubster and I, along with our little dog, decided to go for a hike not far from home.

Despite the wind advisory and chilly weather, we bundled up and went exploring. The crisp air filled our lungs while the fast paced, but easy hike, warmed our bodies.

kilgorefallsmd2-11-20-16Our pooch ran along the trail and couldn’t contain his excitement. We, too, were thrilled to be amongst the great outdoors and getting some exercise! kilgorefallsmd-11-20-16-jerryleoUpon a brief hike of probably less than a half of mile, we reached huge boulders, a calming creek, and flowing waterfalls. Now, these falls, known as Kilgore Falls located in Jarrettsville, Maryland,  were nothing like the ones we’ve seen in North Carolina and certainly not like the magnificent falls in Oregon, but these falls were still pretty and most of all, convenient, being they are short drive from home.

If you are ever in the Maryland area, Kilgore Falls is a must.

At Peace

Jayco Jay Flight SLX 264BHW

After researching numerous motorhomes and travel trailers, I feel at peace with choosing the Jayco Jay Flight SLX 264BHW or something similar. Starcraft Autumn Ridge 278 BH has an identical floorplan with the same or similar features. Both Jayco and Starcraft offer a 2 year limited warranty with similar craftmanship and structural features.

Starcraft Autumn Ridge 278BH

I have several pages of notes of things to look for in my next home, but I prefer a “bunk house” (hence, the BH in the model number) so that guests can join in on the fun. The bunk house style also offers more storage space both underneath and when you are guest-less. I also was looking for a model that offered a campside dinette versus a dinette on the other side overlooking your RV neighbor’s camp.

Overall, I was looking for a lightweight, not too big, and not ridiculously priced travel trailer with space for guests, maximum storage, appropriate function, quality build, safe, and not overwhelming to tow or park (these are about 26′ or 29′ including the hitch).

Now all I have to do, besides research trucks (as well as organize and pack!), is patiently wait for the house to sell, but I am trusting in God’s perfect timing. When you can rest in God’s will and His timing in it all, you find yourself at peace.

14713051_1129454827108998_6807010151953817019_oThe home I’ve loved and invested in for 10 years is officially on the market! After just having the front re-painted and re-pointed, a new side entrance deck put on leading to the back yard and parking pad, plus new siding put up on the rear bay window, not to mention the new granite countertops and back-splash, new dishwasher and frig, and the new dining room chandelier, she is looking better than ever! My hope is the home will sell quickly, but even if not, I am content and happy here. I trust in God’s perfect timing and His will shall be done, regardless.

This 2200 square foot home boasts…

  • 5 bedrooms
  • 1.5 baths
