Rosh Hashanah means head of the new year. It’s a new beginning in Judaism, a new era, if you will. It’s customary to toss sea shells, bread crumbs, or even rose petals into a body of water because the Book of Micah speaks to God hurling our sins into the sea (forgiveness – new beginning – Micah 7:18-20). As such, I went to Myrtle Beach State Park to toss sea shells into the sea. I also went for another easy walk in nature there. Afterwards, at home, I continued to reflect on the Jewish prayers, poems, and essays in my Reform Judaism siddur (prayer book). It was a beautiful, refreshing day, enjoying the Creator and creation! Here’s to another fresh start… Another year to live, love, and learn what God wants to teach us.☝️🍎🙏
