Torah Portion: Va’etchanan

Did you know when Jesus / Yeshua read Isaiah 61 in the synagogue on Shabbat (Sabbath/Saturday), which we can read about in Luke 4:16-30, He was reading from that specific week’s “Haftarah” portion? For thousands of years, those of the Judaism faith have read from the Torah and Haftarah. A major part of the Jewish worship service since the days of escaping Babylonian captivity (see books of Ezra & Nehemiah), is the public reading of the Torah. For the Jewish people learned the hard way while under Babylonian captivity to forsake God’s instructions will inevitably lead to physical and spiritual bondage. The Torah is the first five books of the Bible, also known as the Law, or God’s instructions for life on HOW to love, HOW to live, and HOW to worship.

Each week, in today’s congregations of Judaism, Messianic Judaism, and many Hebrew Roots’ congregations read a certain portion of the Torah in their services. So the whole world (of those groups) is studying the same portions in unity.

However, many years ago, circa 175 BC, when Antiochus Epiphanes conquered the temple, he outlawed the public reading of the Torah, replaced the holy artifacts with pagan gods within the temple, slaughtered pig, an unclean and abomination according to Leviticus 11, Deut 14, and Isaiah 65-66, as a means to mock God’s ordained sacrificial system, and even tormented and killed Jews for holding to their belief in the one true God and their desire to adhere to His laws. All of this was an “abomination of desolation”, which will happen again according to prophecies found in the Books of Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation. Consequently, the rabbis of those days researched and prescribed related passages of the Torah found in the Prophets to be read each week instead of the Torah during that tumultuous time. This became known as “Haftarah”, which means “conclude”.

After that horrific time, the practice of reading from the Prophets stuck so today, passages called portions from the Torah and the Haftarah, which are related are read. In Messianic Judaism (and possibly Hebrew Roots too), related portions from the Gospels are read as well. This photo captures this week’s. The Torah portion’s title is selected from the first few words of the passage. Shabbat Shalom!

Signs of a False Prophet

Two nights ago, I experienced a peculiar and ongoing dream of a mighty whirlwind that affected both land and sea. This storm did significant damage to various landscaping and affected my cleaning business. The dream ended with the whirlwind/waterspout picking me up after attempting to run from it down the pier. The whirlwind lifted me up into the clouds where I could see what appeared to be a heavenly type of city in the midst of the clouds. It was then I thought to myself, “I am like Elijah being mysteriously taken up in a whirlwind..” and then I awoke perplexed. Later, I interpreted the dream as a storm is coming and will affect my life as I know it, but ultimately, it will take me to new heights spiritually. Consequently, I decided to release the teaching series “Signs of a False Prophet” much faster than originally intended in the event the “storm” ends up being a literal storm…perhaps a hurricane or tornado that disrupts my life as I know it. As I type this a strong storm suddenly blew in. I am hoping my plants survive this one…I brought most of them under shelter in the cockpit of my sailboat since the last unexpected storm caused a beloved rose bush to go overboard!

Below are video teachings of the first four in this series. I pray they educate, empower, and encourage you to be discerning of the plethora of “prophetic” voices haunting various media outlets and halls of congregations.

🎶For Such A Time As This🎶

I hope you had a lovely Shabbat! Today I got to sing a solo with my guitar at congregation. I was nervous as it was the first time for this congregation. Evidently, the Ruach (Spirit) moved, people were crying and healed too. Also, another singer told me the Lord was having her tell me the meaning of my name is significant, all of which is confirmation of a previous post I wrote about my name meaning “song of joy” and being like a musical prophets of sorts. Then while sitting in service the Ruach reminded me of an event that happened YEARS ago. Sometime in 2010 (?), I was at a revival evening service in a small church in Lansdowne, Maryland that I had never been to. A guest speaker / prophet was speaking. He was passionate and loud. I was just a baby in gifts of the Spirit back then, was starting over in life, and hungry for God. Suddenly, in the midst of the service, the prophet abruptly called me out of the crowd saying something about God has a call on my life that the devil has tried numerous times to thwart it even by trying to kill me, but God had and still has me covered. Little did he know all the hellish things I overcame like being suffocated by my ex, or my ex pointing a shot gun at me, or my car being set on fire, or houses and my job being shot up! So yes, you could say the devil tried numerous times, BUT what the devil meant for harm, God meant for good. Here I am today, healed from those nightmares, allowing Abba to use my voice to sing prophetic lullabies of love to those going through a hell of their own. I had forgotten all about that prophet and intentionally left the past in the past, but it was as if Abba wanted me to know “For such a time as this.” 🎶💗🙌

From Burning Bush To Bush Overboard, G-d Speaks

Many peculiar things manifested this past week in Carrie’s life. From a confirming prophetic word to a freak storm and the explosion at Exxon’s refinery plant, could Abba be trying to communicate something? Could He be burning up things in Carrie’s life having her let go of somethings so He can have her focus on more important matters or take her into new realms in and with Him?

Ironically enough, a section of this week’s Torah portion hints at “kashering by fire” or being purified by fire before entering G-d’s presence or coming into the camp (Numbers 19, Numbers 31, 1 Corinthians 3). Our vessels need to be purified and that is what Abba seems to be doing in His people. Notice the passage of 1st Kings 18 prophecized over Carrie in worship services recently not only confirms what Abba has been prompting Carrie to do ( to “release” or call out false prophets…as well as perhaps “release” more beloved things to the L-rd), but moreover, speaks to being purified or consumed by G-d’s holy fire. When true prophets are purified by His Spirit, G-d grants them the authority to call down fire or put another way, change the atmosphere for G-d’s Spirit of Holiness is about transformation.

Leading others, teaching others, and or operating in true prophetic realms, is a heavy responsibility…Those who dare to do so should expect to be purified by Abba’s fire as He tosses things overboard through His holy wind.

Musical Prophets / What’s In A Name?

In this episode, Carrie reveals what she has gleaned about prophets who prophesy through music and how a musical prophet can change the atmosphere or cleanse hearts and homes using worship.

Meanwhile, Carrie also realized something spoken over her as a baby is prophetic and pertains to who God (Abba Father) created her to be. “Carrie” means “Songs of Joy”. Her full name, “Carrie Renee..” was printed in a church bulletin the first time her parents brought her to church as a baby announcement. An elderly woman walked up to my parents and said, ” ‘Reen-e’ (Renee)! What a nice name!” Ever since, Carrie’s nick name has been “Reen”. Interestingly enough, there is a Hebrew name “Rena” pronounced “Reen-a”, which means “joyous song”. Today, Carrie sings prophetic joyous songs over people that she calls Lullabies of Love as Abba sings through her to His children.

Torah Portions: Balak / Pinchas / Mattot & Masei

Forgive me for the delay…I have been exceptionally busy these last few weeks, but here are this week’s “Torah Portion” of Mattot and Masei as well as the last two weeks (Balak & Pinchas).

Havdalah & The Feast of Tabernacles

Last night, #Abba awoke me saying, “Sing the Havdalah…from here on out.” I wasn’t even sure what that was so I googled it. Then today, I learned this song sung as a #Havdalah blessing, which is the closing of Shabbat ceremony done in your home Saturday evening, is directly connected to what is sung during Feast of Tabernacles and is about Yeshua as the well and song of our #salvation. Our temporary “tabernacle” (our sailboat) is legally named “sailvation”. #Yeshua / Jesus quoted Isaiah 12 when He said, “Anyone who is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.” (John 7:37-38)…when speaking of salvation. He made this bold announcement during the water libation ceremony during the Feast of Tabernacles (#Sukkot) see John 7:2,37. How fascinating considering the Spirit has used the Feast of Tabernacles all throughout this peculiar “wilderness journey”He has called us on. Consequently, I investigated this song. Here is the #song…

The Redeemed Obey

[This photo was taken in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a land, sea, and people I love. My heart’s prayer is instead on waves of destruction as prophecized, that Carolinians and all of America’s coastlands will come to be refreshed in waves of righteousness rather than waves of destruction due to lack of true repentance.]

Many believers are familiar with our Messiah’s phrase stated in Revelation 1:8, 21:6-7, 22:13, when Jesus, or Yeshua in His original name, states He is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. Unfortunately, many have been erroneously taught that God’s word, His commands, His instructions for life, found in His Torah, are no longer applicable after Yeshua / Jesus died on the cross and therefore, many “believers”, ironically, don’t believe in all of God’s word from beginning to end. Many have interpreted various verses penned by the Apostle Paul from a Western Greek perspective rather than a Hebraic mentality, which the Apostle Peter warned the Apostle Paul’s letters are difficult to understand and many would interpret them to lead others into lawlessness or being without Torah..being without God’s laws much to their own demise (2 Peter 3:15-17).

Recently, I learned of another passage, where Jesus / Yeshua is speaking in Isaiah 48 imploring the redeemed to obey God’s commands. It is clear from the beginning of the Bible to the end, the message is: The redeemed obey. Whether you have been redeemed from Egypt, Babylon, or proverbial Babylon, the Spirit of Holiness beckons us to come out of her my people (Rev.18:4)…come out of a lifestyle of lawlessness…a lifestyle of thinking you can live however you want intentionally sinning under the guise of grace…a lifestyle of spiritual adultery…lest you share in her plagues…lest you experience God’s disciplining judgments designed to bring you to true repentance by returning to Abba Father, through Yeshua, and abiding in covenant by submitting to God’s instructions for life found in His Torah and all of His word, from beginning to end! Here in Isaiah 48, we see Yeshua saying the the same thing.

We don’t obey in order to be saved; rather, we obey because it is our heart’s response upon receiving the Spirit of Holiness, the Holy Spirit, the lawful Spirit of Christ, grateful for Him bleeding to death on a cross for breaking Torah (I John 3:4; Romans 3:23, 6:23). Simply stated: The Redeemed Obey.

“234” Mystery Solved!

If you have followed this blog, my YouTube channel, or the Flip Flop Fellowship Facebook page, then you know how the numbers “234” have been woven in this peculiar wilderness journey as Abba called us out of proverbial Egypt to follow Him/Yeshua wherever His Ruach/Spirit leads, right? In that process, I’ve fallen more in love with Him and came to delight in all of His word…His Voice…His Commands…His Torah…a woman after God’s own heart. I told you I recently discovered 1st John 2:3-4 seems to sum up what He has illuminated to me and called me to illuminate to others…namely “believers” who ironically don’t believe the redeemed obey. These verses seem to hint at what the Ruach/Spirit is indicating by me seeing the numbers “234” often. Through this amazing journey, I have used a Spanish / English Bible that has a plethora of my notes and highlights as Abba opened me eyes to so much! HalleluYAH! So when a client accidently, texted me a picture of a license plate saying “JUAN234”, not knowing anything about my journey (i.e. the car itself), my spanish Bible, or how I have been seeing 234 nearly everyday, nor the fact I just discovered 1st John 2:3-4 (Juan is John in Spanish), I took all that as confirmation. I also have learned these last couple of years, the point of the Holy Spirit or Spirit of Holiness, also known as the seal of God, is to cause you to obey God’s Torah (look at the Hebrew translations describing the New Covenant and Holy Spirit in Jer.31:31-33; Ezekiel 11; Ezekiel 36, etc) and then compare that to how in the end, you will either have the Mark of the Beast (lawless AntiChrist spirit) or the Mark/Seal of God (lawful Spirit of Christ).. Read Ezekiel 9..notice those who obey Abba received a spiritual mark on their foreheads and were spared from God’s judgments…obey or pay…compare how Abba said over and over again, the redeemed will put His Voice/His Torah on our foreheads (transformed by the renewing of our minds) and our right hand (be doers of the word!). Conversely, the lawless..Torahless AntiChrist will cause people to receive a mark of lawlessness on their foreheads or right hand. Get it? This is why the AntiChrist only goes after those who believe in Yeshua and keep God’s commands (read Rev 12:17; 14:12)! They have the seal or mark of God. Now, guess what the Jewish gematri is for “234”? The Mark. 📖🙏💝👏
