The Gift of Grace: Do You Have It? How Do You Know?

Christian culture is centered on the concept of G-d’s gift of grace made possible through His Son, Yeshua/Jesus’ death and resurrection. If you have been exposed to such important concepts, surely you have heard the famous toted verse found in Ephesians 2:8-9:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

These two verses, and these verses alone, are what most Christians think of when they think of grace. However, the very next verse (10) in that same passage seems to be encouraging good works as if grace and good works are related by saying, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” The following verses go on to tell the new believing Gentiles in Ephesus (Ephesians 1:1, 3:1), who Paul calls “saints” (Ephesians 1:1) not to behave like the lawless Gentiles because now through believing Yeshua is the Messiah, Gentiles are also part of the covenants (see verses 2:11-13). He emphasizes Yeshua’s death and resurrection provide a way for unity (Ephesians 2:13-19) while seeming to re-emphasize although genetically you are non-Jewish, you are considered a “saint” in G-d’s eyes. The Apostle Paul goes on to explain in the following verses of Chapter 2, Yeshua the Messiah’s death and resurrection paid the debt or the consequence or curse of breaking the One True Living G-d’s covenant or relationship by disobeying Him (see Deuteronomy 28-29) now providing the eventual promise of eternal life through our own resurrection one fine day. HalleluYAH!

Could “grace” somehow cause us to do “good works”?

Earlier in the book of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul writes that upon trusting and believing in the gospel message, you will be sealed with the Holy Spirit (see Ephesians 1:13). Acts 2:38-39 says essentially the same thing stating the promised gift of the Holy Spirit is for all who repent and are baptized in the authority or identity of Jesus/Yeshua The Messiah.

But did you know receiving the Holy Spirit is a distinct event in a believer’s life? I did not know this either until it happened to me unexpectedly in 2009 many years after believing Jesus is the Messiah (some 26 years later!). Many preach that receiving the Holy Spirit is an automatic, seemingly secret event that occurs instantly upon believing Yeshua is the Messiah, but according to Scripture, it is a distinct, separate, and undeniable event in one’s life.

Acts 2 revealed receiving the Holy Spirit is a noticeable spiritual event that causes a physical reaction. Likewise, in Acts 8:14-17, we see some in Samaria believed in the gospel message and had even been baptized, but they had not yet received the Holy Spirit until the Apostles laid hands on them and prayed for them, then the Holy Spirit fell on the believing people. Evidently, it caused some form of physical reaction for them to observe and record the Holy Spirit falling upon them to where they could surely verify the had received the Holy Spirit. Similarly, in Acts 10, the Holy Spirit provided a vision and the interpretation of the vision to the Apostle Peter, who typically ministered to Jews (Galatians 2:7-8). Through that vision and interpretation, Peter came to understand that the Gentiles were just as loved and wanted by G-d as well as the Jews and no longer considered unclean (Acts 10:34-36; Galatians 2:6) and shortly thereafter, the Spirit provided an opportunity for Peter to minister to the Gentile household of Cornelius and the Holy Spirit also fell on Gentiles causing a physical reaction (Acts 10:44-48). Additionally, in Acts 19:1-6, the Apostle Paul asked some Gentile believers in Ephesus if they had received the Holy Spirit yet, but they answered they hadn’t even heard of the term Holy Spirit prior to then and evidently they had not been baptized yet either. Moments later, they decided to get baptized, Paul laid hands on them, and the Holy Spirit came upon them just like it fell in Acts 2, for the Samaritans, for Cornelius’ crew, and now for these believers in Ephesus, causing a physical reaction to what was happening in the spiritual.

Let’s unpack this:

1) First, we can see receiving the Holy Spirit is a distinct separate event to occur sometime after a person believes Yeshua/Jesus is indeed the Messiah.

2) Secondly, we see receiving the Holy Spirit is not limited to some formula of first believe, then be baptized, then receive the Holy Spirit for although some of those believers had already been baptized (Acts 8:14-17; 19:5-6), others had not (Acts 10:44-48) and yet they received the Holy Spirit. Incidentally, this is what manifested in my case as well (first received the Spirit then baptized by immersion into Him). We can deduce from this that not only is receiving the Holy Spirit a separate, noticeable, and distinct event that occurs sometime after trusting the fact that Yeshua is Messiah, but it is not limited to first being baptized or another outward expression of faith.

3) Thirdly, we can see them receiving the Holy Spirit was no act or choice of their own, an event that could not be forced or manipulated, but rather, an event given only by the grace of G-d, in His time, and His way, after they simply trusted Yeshua is their Messiah, their Redeemer, who paid for the cost of their lawlessness, and were open to receiving His Spirit of Grace.

4) Fourthly, we learn from these passages that receiving the Holy Spirit causes some sort of physical reaction to what is transpiring in the spiritual (i.e. speaking in tongues, but not limited to speaking to in tongues). Similar to when G-d, who is spirit (John 4:24), spoke, then something physical manifested (Genesis 1). What transpires in the physical often reveals what is happening in the spirit realm.

5) Lastly, we can discern from these passages, that G-d does not discriminate for the Holy Spirit was poured out on both Jews and Gentiles.

Did you know the Holy Spirit is not just referred to as the ‘promised gift’ (of the Father- see Acts 1:4-5, 2:38-39), but also the ‘gift of grace’ (Ephesians 2:8), and ‘the Spirit of grace’ (Zechariah 12:7; Hebrews 10:29)? So it would seem to me, when various authors in Scripture refer to G-d’s grace, they are referring to not just believing Jesus/Yeshua is Messiah, but the manifested promise of believing in Yeshua through receiving His Holy Spirit, which did not become readily available to all until Yeshua the Messiah rose from the dead (see Galatians 4:6)!

Did you know even though the Holy Spirit has existed from the beginning (Isaiah 63), it is what makes the new/renewed covenant distinct from the other covenants? Jeremiah 31:31-33, as well as Ezekiel 11:19-20, and Ezekiel 36:26-27, and Hebrews 10 as well as other passages like Joel 2, informs us while various chapters in Acts demonstrate to us Abba Father will pour out His Holy Spirit on those who believe (Yeshua is Messiah) as a sign of a new covenant made, similar to physical signs He has provided other times when He made a spiritual covenant with His people (Romans 4:9-14) and that the purpose of that Holy Spirit being deposited within us, also known as the ‘Spirit of Holiness’ is to cause those who believe to do that which is holy (Romans 7:12), to seal G-d’s laws on the hearts of His disciples (Isaiah 8:16), and to educate, encourage, and empower us to obey His Kingdom Constitution or put another way, The Father’s household instructions being found in the Torah and elaborated on throughout the rest of Scripture.

In other words, the gift of grace is receiving the Holy Spirit, who then takes us from living a lawless, unholy lifestyle to a lawful, holy lifestyle in His time little by little, step by step. In our natural selves we cannot to do so nor want to (Romans 8:7), but the supernatural being within our flesh causes a physical reaction to do the good works Ephesians 2:10 refers to! HalleluYAH!

But I Thought The Law Was Just For The Jews, Not Gentiles?!

Many believe, however, that obeying Abba Father’s instructions only applies to Jews and not Gentiles, but my Bible does not seem to teach that the Jewish people receive a different Holy Spirit than the Gentiles. In fact, the Bible seems to reiterate there is no partiality or difference in Abba’s perspective between His natural kids (Jews) and His adopted kids (Gentiles), He loves us all the same and His household rules applies to all His kids. Just the very essence of referring to the G-d of the universe, the One True Living G-d, as Father, infers He is our authority, our parent. Just as children are taught to honor their father and mother by obeying them, Abba Father’s spiritual kids must do so also. Unfortunately, there is an ugly spirit of sibling rivalry among believing Jews and believing Gentiles seeming to assert one’s status over another.

I have discovered along my faith journey that there are various teachings found in the Body of Messiah that seem to teach a different lifestyle of holiness or infers (perhaps unknowingly) that a different Holy Spirit is poured out onto Jews than Gentiles. Here are the 3 common teachings regarding obeying G-d’s laws in summary: 1) We are not under law so neither believing Jew or Gentile in Messiah ought to keep Torah anymore; 2) Only the Jews in Messiah are required to keep Torah, being the Jews are the chosen priesthood, but for the Gentile obeying Torah is optional; 3) Upon receiving G-d’s grace and being filled with the Holy Spirit, a believer in Messiah, whether genetically a Jew or Gentile will be Spirit-led to obey Torah in His time.

It’s About His Blood, Not Our Blood

From what I have discerned from Scripture thus far is the gospel message that is repeated over and over again (within the pages of the Bible) is not only that we become apart of G-d’s family through faith in Yeshua alone through His blood, not our blood, not our genetics (Romans 3:28-30, 5:9, 9: 6-8, 10:9-13) but that Abba Father shows no partiality between genetic Jews and genetic Gentiles. I invite you to grab your Bible and join me as I share with you numerous verses leading me to this conclusion.

Since we were just discussing Ephesians, please investigate Ephesians 4:4-6 which reads,

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Does it say there are different faiths or a different Holy Spirit given depending on if you are Jewish or Gentile? Do we have a different Father?

In Acts 10, the Apostle Peter, who typically ministered to Jews (Galatians 2:7-8) came to understand after seeing a vision that Abba is after the hearts of not just the Jews, but the Gentiles as well. “Then Peter opened his mouth and said, ‘In truth, I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.” Shortly thereafter, as discussed earlier, Peter witnessed first hand the Holy Spirit falling on the Gentiles (Acts 10:44-48).

{warning: theology rant}

The Apostles expressed numerous times that there is no difference between His genetic Jewish kids and His genetic Gentile kids for we are one family in our Father’s house upon believing Yeshua is Messiah; hence, the tearing of the veil (Matthew 27:51), the breaking down the barrier between Jew and Gentiles (Ephesians 2:14) for Yeshua is our High Priest (Hebrews 5-10) and all in Him, including Gentiles, are His Chosen Priesthood (1 Peter 2:5-12; Romans 11). He is not concerned with your physical dna, per se, rather He is more concerned about your spiritual DNA…your circumcised heart, your spiritual maturity gleaned through your spiritual giftings and overall role in His body. Do you have different backgrounds, different experiences, different genders, eye color, shapes and sizes, and natural tendencies? Of course! But neither your past or your flesh have a place in the kingdom in light of eternity for He is making you a new creation in your identity in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). Stop making it be about genetics for that is carnal. In the end, our DNA is a fading flower. The flesh is temporary, the spiritual is eternal. Put another way, it’s not about your physical temporary body, it’s about HIS spiritual eternal body.

Likewise, do you have different spiritual gifts? Different spiritual roles in G-d’s kingdom (i.e. apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelist, pastoral, etc)? Of course, and yet, you are still one, according to 1 Corinthians 12. Just as there is no one gift better than the other or how no one body part in the human body can properly function without all the others working in unity, neither is woman better than man (1 Corinthians 11:11), man better than woman (I Corinthians 11:11), Jew better than Gentile, or Gentile better than Jew. “Distinction Theology”, a relatively newly defined theology circulating in some of Messianic Judaism and some even more limited circles of Christianity, fosters division elevating Jews above Gentiles, by teaching Torah is required for Jews, being they are G-d’s special chosen people, His actual priesthood, but the Gentiles can do their less serious role by adhering to the moral laws of Torah. It like “Replacement Theology” are false doctrines that foster division and discord. “Replacement Theology”, the most predominant theology circulated for centuries throughout Christianity, creates division by elevating Gentiles above Jews and typically teaches the Torah is irrelevant to both Gentiles and Jews. Both of these contradict Scripture and demonstrate sibling rivalry at its best or more accurately, worst! If I had to pick a theology that best describes my perspective regarding unity and honoring Abba Father’s instructions for His kids, it would be “One Law Theology”, circulating in the Hebrew Roots Movement as well as Messianic Judaism, but even that could use better clarification because it implies every single command in Torah applies to every single person, which it does not. For example, can a man obey the commandments provided in Torah specifically for woman (i.e. her menstrual cycle)? Do the commandments intended for farmers or the military apply to everyone? Do the commandments pertaining to the Levitical Priesthood apply to the average person (i.e. what clothing to wear or not to touch dead people)? Moreover, it is clearly difficult to label and explain the mysteries of G-d and His family dynamics plus we are all at different mile markers on the same narrow path (hopefully). I certainly can appreciate attempting to explain various revelations, but we must do so being founded in the entirety of G-d’s word and in His love while fostering the atmosphere of being in one accord. Is our theology demonstrating fruit of the Spirit, demonstrating love or are we creating doctrines that place one over another? Is that the Spirit of Grace? The Spirit of Holiness? Yeshua taught us to serve others, to be humble, to love. He ministered to all walks of life lowering Himself even to the point of death for ALL of us. Perhaps a better label could be “One Family Theology” or “One Love Theology” or “One Father Theology” or “The Functional Faith Family Theology”. It grieves me to see those who claim to believe in One G-d be so divided.

It grieves me to see those who claim to believe in One G-d be so divided.

Some of the Messianic Judaism communities seem to attack the Hebrew Roots communities while some of the Hebrew Roots communities seem to attack Christianity and some of Christianity seems to attacks its own variations/denominations…it is never ending division. Hopefully, you are hearing my heart on these important matters for when the trumpets start blasting in the end (see Revelation 8-11), I promise you, you won’t care what your theology is called, you will need each other and finally start fulfilling the heart of Torah by BEING love, as the Body of Messiah, simply to survive.

I invite you to explore the following verses that foster wholeness and the heart of our Father…

“..God shows no personal favoritism to no man..” Galatians 2:6

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise….And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, ‘Abba Father!’ Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” Galatians 3:26-29, 4:6-7

Now therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” Ephesians 2:19

Incidentally, do you remember Paul referenced believers in both his letters to the Ephesians and Romans as “saints”? Did you know the Apostle John in the Book of Revelation refers to “saints” as those who both believe in Yeshua as Messiah AND keep G-d’s commandments (see Revelation 12:17 & 14:12)? It doesn’t say the “beast” makes war with just the Jews or just the Gentiles, does it? But Scripture says in 2nd Thessalonians and Revelation, the LAWLESS one, the beast, goes after those saints who believe in Yeshua and do G-d’s Torah/Law! Let that sink in for a bit.

Back to being one family obeying the Parent…

that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel.” Ephesians 3:6

Set your mind on things above and not on earthly things for you died and your is now hidden with Christ in God….Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all in all.” Colossians 3:2-11

But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.” Colossians 3:25

Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and ‘Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.‘ ” 2 Timothy 2:19

..for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, stife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, ‘I am of Paul,’ and another, ‘I am of Apollos’, are you not carnal?…For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:3-9

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” Romans 1:16 (see note below)

But to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness- indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God.” Romans 2:8-10 (My interpretation of this phrase ‘to the Jew first’ mentioned here and in Romans 1:16 is the Jews were offered salvation and blessings of obedience first and then such things were also made available to the Gentiles – see Romans 9-11).

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. ‘For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.‘ ” Romans 10:12-13

For if God did not spare the natural branches (Jews), He may not spare you either (Gentiles).” Romans 11:21

Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then make void the law the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.” Romans 3:29-31

Before I proceed, notice Paul writes in the last phrase of Romans 3:31 “we establish the law”. But if the Jews are already well-acquainted with Torah, having had it established thousands of years prior, then who were the Apostles focused on establishing the law with in addition to the Jews? The Roman Gentiles (Romans 1:1-7). Not to earn their salvation, but because of their salvation..because of their repentance for sin, which sin is Biblically defined as breaking Torah or being without Torah (1 John 3:4) and then the eventual receiving of the Holy Spirit, who in turn, causes those who have believed and received to obey Torah. Paul writes in Romans 1:5-6, “Through Him we have received grace and apostleship FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH among all nations for His name, among who you also are the called of Jesus Christ..

I see believing Jews as being the “oldest” in the family, the firstborn, the ones who know better and who can help instruct the younger siblings in what Abba Father expects. That seemed to be my role as oldest and best explains this family dynamic too.

We have learned thus far, we are in a new covenant and a sign of that covenant is the outpouring of Holy Spirit onto both Jew and Gentile alike. But why make a Holy Spirit anyway as a sign or gift? Why not make a glowing cross in the sky when a person believes Yeshua/Jesus is the Messiah like G-d made a rainbow when He made a covenant with Noah? The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to help us honor Abba Father by obeying Him, by obeying the terms of all the previous covenants (to those that apply anyway) since clearly without the Holy Spirit, it could not be done – Welcome to the Renewed/New Covenant (see Ezekiel 36:27). In addition to it’s not about if you are genetically Jewish or genetically a Gentile, it’s also not about converting to Judaism, not that there is anything wrong with being a Jew, Gentile, or practicing Judaism, in fact, I do practice Messianic Judaism the best I know how at this time in my faith journey. Overall, dear reader, in my interpretation of Scripture, it is about making disciples and cultivating an authentic lifestyle of holy worship upon receiving G-d’s gift of grace.

In summary, having obtained grace is having obtained the Spirit of grace/the Holy Spirit, in G-d’s time and His way, through no merit or doing or manipulating of our own, other than simply choosing to believe Yeshua is the Messiah. We will receive the promised Holy Spirit when G-d deems it time – His grace. That Spirit of Holiness, once received, will begin spiritually circumcising our spiritual hearts, removing the unholy and replacing it with holy, eventually causing our flesh to follow accordingly. In other words, the inward spiritual workings of the Holy Spirit, will produce physical outward works, good works (Ephesians 2:10), which if led by the Spirit, will produce love, joy, peace, patience, self-control, etc (Galatians 5:22-23). Similarly, G-d’s presence and law are centered in Jerusalem, likened to a heart, but will be circulated and enforced throughout all the nations one fine day likened to the body when He returns and the Spirit of Holiness encamps the whole earth bringing us into shalom, into wholeness, unity, and one accord (see Isaiah 2, 51; Micah 4; Zechariah 14:16+). Can’t wait! ūüôā

Moreover, upon receiving the ‘gift of grace’ or ‘Spirit of holiness’, which is the Holy Spirit, He begins to teach us the heart of the Father, and what love looks like as exampled by His Son. The Spirit flowing in us and through us, explains, educates, encourages, and empowers His kids to walk like our big brother Yeshua walked, to follow Him, and to love G-d, His word (all of it), and consequently, we will love others for love is the summary of Torah- it’s what His Torah and the Gift of Grace is all about!

Shalom and Amen.

The Plan of ‘Sailvation’

While navigating this peculiar path and living aboard a sailboat, which my husband and I named ‘Sailvation’, I thought a nautical inspired analogy may inspire fellow boaters and others to reflect on God’s love and His plan of salvation.

B.O.A.T. – Count The Cost

Every mariner knows what the famous acronym B.O.A.T. means: ‘Bring Out Another Thousand’ for we know just about anything and everything with the word “marine” in front of it is going to cost you a fortune!

Now imagine you are a boat owner who has found themselves in a financial fiasco unable to pay the loan on your vessel, let alone the expenses of maintaining it and enjoying her. After awhile, the bills continue to build as does the green algae and moss attacking your once pearly fiberglass hull. Before you know it, many more months have passed, except now the Harbor Master at the dock yard informs you that your slip fee is even more green than what’s growing on your vessel and he is going to have to put up your beloved boat for auction to pay your debt. After all, ship happens. Meanwhile, all your dreams of cruising are sinking further and further into the muck and mire of despair.

Amazingly, in your darkest most desperate hour of need, along comes this guy name Jesus, or Yeshua in His original Hebrew name, who offers to not only pay off the now very-overdue loan on your vessel, but He’s also going to pay all your slip fees causing you to be debt free and in the clear!

You see, fellow mariner, we all are imperfect sinners, who find ourselves making foolish choices and then suffer the damning consequences. We all are sinners who have gone off course and find ourselves run aground spiritually. But the Bible, which is our nautical charts for life, tells us the wages or cost of sin is death (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Meaning our poor choices cause eternal spiritual and eventual physical death or separation from our Creator/God, who created us for relationship with Him and others. Seeing our need for help…for a Savior, or boat tow you could say, God loved each of us enough to send Yeshua, Jesus, His Son, the Messiah, to help us out by paying the cost of our sin..the cost of our lawlessness (I John 3:4) through the shedding of His blood on a cross. Can you imagine our sin cost even more than our yachts?! So much so that the only way to pay off the debt is for a perfect, sinless, Messiah named Yeshua / Jesus of Nazareth, born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23), to pay off our debt by bleeding to death on a cross fulfilling prophecy (Isaiah 53; Psalm 22; Zechariah 9:9; 11:13;12:10). Thankfully, just as the prophecies foretold, Jesus / Yeshua, rose from the dead three days later providing each of us with a hope and future of overcoming spiritual death and eventually even physical death when we are resurrected!

Clean The Exterior

After accepting His gracious offer, Jesus / Yeshua, then tells you He’s going to hose down your now debt-free yacht and even clean the barnacles of her hull. It would seem in just a matter of moments, not only was your debt washed away, but now, the exterior off your yacht gleams too!

Upon accepting God’s gracious gift of paying off our debt, He instructs us to be washed cleaned through baptism. It represents being made new and clean, being born again, or a fresh start as we wash away our unclean past.

The Refit

In addition to paying all your vessel’s debt and providing your vessel a fresh start, Jesus / Yeshua, then sends His Helper over to refit the interior of your vessel. As long as you cooperate and are willing, Jesus’ Friend will teach you how to address the various issues that just about all vessels encounter at one time or another. He’ll help you remove any glaring mold while also fixing leaks and rusted chain plates. He’ll even help you replace the holding tanks, repair or replace port lights, rewire your vessel’s entire electrical needs, make sure the water pump is operating as it should along with the plumbing, replace the fabrics throughout, and just to ensure a smooth passage, He’ll even help you replace the engine and fill up your fuel tanks. Need a new bimini, a dodger, or those shabby sails replaced? No problem, Jesus and His Buddy can help with all that too!

Much like the refitting of our vessels, at some point, in God’s time, He sends a “Helper”, the Holy Spirit, which is God’s Spirit or put another way Yeshua / Jesus’ Spirit, to work on our mind, heart, and soul teaching us God’s ways and cleaning up the mess lurking within our souls (John 14:15-18; John 17:17; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:14-17; Acts 19:2-6; Romans 8:9-17; 1 John 2:24-29; 3:7-10).

The Manuals & Charts

All mariners know the manuals to your engine, electronics, and other systems on board your vessel dictate how such systems and your vessel should operate. Similarly, the nautical charts, whether in paper form or through apps, help you safely and legally navigate the waters.

Consider God’s word, whether in print or in app format, to be your guide and manual for life as it is designed to personally reveal to you important instructions on not just how to sojourn the calm waters of life, but God’s word will help you safely navigate the storms too (John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:14-17)! Moreover, His words teaches us how to best operate in God’s kingdom among many other useful tips.

Unlike waterways and nautical charts though, God’s ways and His word never change (Malachi 3:6-7; Isaiah 55:11). Instead, the more you come to know and experience as a mariner circumnavigating God’s word, you will find God’s Holy Scriptures ultimately changes you and your course (Romans 12:1-2; 8:14).

Sailing In The Spirit

Speaking of changing course, while sailing, the sailor must be in alignment with the wind or they are stuck in bondage called ‚Äúin-irons‚ÄĚ. Woven along each sail are strings called the ‚Äútelltales‚ÄĚ because they tell if you and thereby your vessel are in alignment with the wind. The telltales will be flowing horizontally when your vessel is in alignment with the wind.

Similarly, when we as followers of Yeshua/Jesus are NOT in alignment with His Holy Spirit/the Spirit of Holiness also known as wind, we too will be stuck ‚Äúin-irons‚ÄĚ or bondage as slaves to sin..slaves to lawlessness. For we know the ‚Äútelltale‚ÄĚ signs or results of being in alignment with Yah‚Äôs Wind (God’s Spirit), we will cheerfully and willingly ‚Äúhorizontally‚ÄĚ submit unto His Holy Wind‚Ķ The telltales of our ‚Äúcourse‚ÄĚ is our obedience unto Him and His directions found in His Holy perfect Word.

Obedience to Abba‚Äôs ways (Father God’s ways)..His will..His laws aren‚Äôt bondage, but liberty. Rather, rebellion is stuck in-irons to sin.

‚ÄúStand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.‚ÄĚ Galatians 5:1 (Free from the consequence of sin! Avoid the law of sin and death//lawlessness see 1 John 3:4, but embrace the law of God//law of the Spirit of life Romans 7:22-8:10)

‚ÄúSo shall I keep Your law continually, forever and ever. And I will walk (or sail) at liberty, For I seek Your precepts.‚ÄĚ Psalm 119:44-45

Is Obeying God’s Law Cheating On Jesus?

car-radio-code-57def9cc3df78c9cce6a9434

While in my car driving this afternoon, I heard a voice on a local Christian radio preaching to any willing listeners that the law of God is evil and causes people to sin. After hearing a couple of verses the preacher quoted, I found myself vexed in my being saddened that still too many have been so easily deceived into thinking something God calls truth (Psalm 119:30,60,142), a blessing (Psalm 119:1-2), wondrous (Psalm 119:18), a delight (Psalm 119:14-16,47), liberty (Psalm 119:44-45; Galatians 5; James 1:25), good doctrine (Proverbs 4:2), knowledge/understanding (Psalm 119:33-34, 73,100; Proverbs 2; Hosea 4:6), a light or lamp (Psalm 119:105-106,129-130; Proverbs 6:23; Matthew 25:1-13), the apple of our eye (Proverbs 7:1-3), for our good (Deut.5:29; 6:24-25; 7:9-26; 10:12-13; Proverbs 3:1-4), for our righteousness and instruction (Deut.6:24-25; Psalm 119:60,142,172; 2 Timothy 3:13-4:3), His will (Romans 2:17-18; 12:1-2), and holy, just and good (Romans 7:12), and spiritual (Romans 7:14) as evil and actually causes one to sin. Not too long ago, a different pastor posted on Facebook that obeying God’s commands is actually cheating on Jesus. After seeing such outlandish rebellion and deception on Facebook as well as hearing this latest attack on God and His word under the guise of faith, it was then while still driving in the car, the Scripture penned by the Apostle Peter, whom our Messiah founded His assembly on, stirred within my spirit. 1 Peter 3:14-18 reads:

Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:14-18 (ESV)

Just as Jesus speaks in the Book of Revelation of areas various churches excel at as well as areas the church fails at and need to repent of (Rev. 2-3), I, too, have noticed a few important facts about today’s modern, mainstream Christianity church. One thing mainstream Christianity excels at is understanding Jesus, or Yeshua in His original Hebrew name, is the Messiah of the world as foretold throughout the Tanakh, also known as the Old Testament (Psalm 22; Isaiah 7:14; 53; Zechariah 9:9). Christianity indeed excels at spreading the good news of our Savior’s first arrival, His amazing grace, and many understand He will return to rule and reign in His second arrival. However, one big thing much of Christianity seems to fail at is understanding our Messiah was/is, begotten of the God of Israel, was/is still Jewish as were all of the Apostles, and our Messiah will return and reign still as Jewish or one from the tribe of Judah (hence, the slang term for the tribe of Judah being ‘Jew’), and the fact that in the New Jerusalem there is no gate for ‘Gentiles’ to enter (Read ‘Walk Like An Egyptian?‘) nor is the new covenant made with Gentiles (read Jeremiah 31:31-33 – notice the new covenant is with the House of Israel & House of Judah). Again, please read, ‘Walk Like An Egyptian?’ for more clarification. Furthermore, our Jewish Messiah taught that he came to fill up or show us how to be the Living Torah as He is the Living Torah (John 1; 1 Peter 1:22-25) and that not one jot or tittle (writings/grammar/highlights) of the law of God, His Abba (Father in Hebrew) and ours, is done away with or abolished until there is a new heaven and earth (Matthew 5:17-19). Jesus even goes on to say in that same passage that anyone who teaches God’s laws are done away (and even worse to present them as evil) will be considered least in God’s kingdom! Additionally, many do not know that the reason He returns to Earth for a second time is to restore the Earth as He and our Abba Father intended it to be. Specifically, Yeshua teaches us God’s laws (see Isaiah 2, Isaiah 51, Micah 4) as do His priests in the millennium reign of Yeshua before the New Heavens and New Earth are established (Ezekiel 44:23-24). The last chapter in the book of Zechariah, reveals after Yeshua returns to Earth to reign, all the world must participate in the Feast of Tabernacles (see Zechariah 14:16+). Similarly, various passages of the Tanakh (Old Testament) reveal the Israelites and strangers within the faith (even in the New Testament too – see John 12:20) sojourned to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover (‘Pesach’ in Hebrew), Pentecost (‘Shavuot’ in Hebrew), and Feast of Tabernacles (‘Sukkot’ in Hebrew). The Book of Ezekiel seems to indicate the world will also celebrate these feasts of the LORD (Leviticus 23) by traveling to Jerusalem during the millennium reign of Yeshua. To read more about what life will be like during the 1,000 year reign and rule of our Messiah, Yeshua, study Ezekiel 36-46. Likewise, Isaiah 64-66, reveal how Yeshua, the Messiah, feels about violations of God’s laws, such as eating swine or breaking Sabbath, at His return and what true worship looks like (hint: cheerful obedience to our Father’s laws). Clearly, if we celebrate the feasts of the LORD in the millennium and are also taught God’s laws in the Messianic Era, not to mention we currently are not yet in a new heaven and new earth just yet, then how can one seriously argue God’s commands are temporarily done away with, much less evil, or cheating on Jesus? To learn more about such critical truths, read Why Wormwood? and Will We Again Perform Sacrifices? If So, Why?

In other words, much of Christianity excels at making converts but fails at making disciples of Jesus Christ or Yeshua HaMaschiach, for being a disciple of the Jewish Jesus means to do just as He did as the walking, talking Torah (1 John 2:6; John 1; James 1:22-25), honoring His heavenly Father. After all, did Jesus not say in the last verse of the ‘Great Commission’, “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” in Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)?

Speaking of teaching, human nature is to simply believe what we are taught to believe and do what we are told to do without really investigating the doctrines being spoon fed to those of us sitting in the pews. Most preachers and seminary’s simply spew what they have been taught or what they read in commentaries. Many don’t know that out of a hatred for the Jews, thinking Jews are the sole perpetrators of Jesus’ crucifixion (when in actuality the Jews [1 Thess.2:14-15], the Romans [Matt.27:35], you & I [Rom.3:23;6:23], and the Father [Acts 2:23] killed Him), a bitter root of anti-semitism developed hundreds of years after the first century Messianic Jewish and grafted-in believers (former Gentiles) began following ‘The Way’ (Acts 9:2; Acts 11:26) when the Emperor Constantine and the Council of Nicea made doctrines and rules ostracizing anything remotely Jewish from the Roman Catholic Church (circa 325 AD). Without having the word of God for themselves to study, as well as  palpable fear of persecution and wanting to belong, many church goers accepted the authority of the Emperor’s and Catholic Church’s guidelines and doctrines. Even today, with prevalent access to Bibles, many Catholic and Protestant Christians still abide by such doctrines founded in the 4th century rather than seeking the Father with all their heart and minds while allowing His Spirit of Holiness (Holy Spirit) to teach them what is holy (Romans 7:12). Many hearts are closed to hearing anything other than what they’ve been taught. Why? Because to discover something different would mean three humbling and potentially devastating facts: 1) They were deceived. 2) They were wrong. 3) You will be set apart from others and consequently, misunderstood and persecuted. Take heart, beloveds, being angry and grieved upon realizing the gross distortion of God’s voice, His word, as well as scared is totally normal as you come out of proverbial Babylon or Egypt.

If you are still reading, then perhaps you are one of the few that Call to Me, and I will  answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV). It’s been my personal experience, the more one is willing to come to Him like a child, while abandoning your preconceived notions and traditions, forgetting everything you think you know about Him, the faster one will grow into a mature son or daughter of Abba in Yeshua and hopefully, start producing lasting and delightful fruit!

Tragically, as evidence of various media outlets, many have been taught that to be ‘under the law’ is being in bondage, legalistic, or even cursing themselves as it is cheating on Jesus. Many believe such things primarily from cherry-picking a few verses out of the Book of Romans and Galatians or various books scribed by the Apostle Paul. I know I certainly was taught that and at first glance at such Scriptures, I can see why one would come to such conclusion. Now, however, when I hear such things I am not sure if I want to cry or laugh at such gross, but clever twisting of Paul’s writings.

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.” Romans 6:14 (NKJV)

It would seem when reading Romans 6:14, particularly if you simply cherry-pick verses, that being under the law is being under sin. But are God’s laws sin? No. Or is breaking God’s law sin? YES! Whenever one studies a verse, one needs to read it in context as well as compare it to the rest of Scripture. Let’s examine I John 3:4, which reads,

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” 1 John 3″4 (NKJV)

So according to the Jewish Apostle John, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, sin is breaking God’s law or not obeying God’s commandments. The Apostle John also writes in 1 John 2:4,

He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” I John 2:4 (NKJV)

and how the persecuted saints in the Book of Revelation are described as those who not only believe in Yeshua as their Messiah, but they keep the commandments of God as well.

Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12 (NKJV)

In I John 2, the Apostle explains the commandments he is inferring are ones from the Torah (see 1 John 2:7), which Jesus especially taught and walked and even raised the standard on (i.e. think about the adultery commandment – Jesus said if you even THINK about a woman lustfully, you have committed adultery – Matt.5:27-30). Did Jesus ever say, don’t worry about such commandments like ‘Thou shall not commit adultery’ (Exodus 19:14,17)? No, rather, Jesus often is found showing grace to those who violated the law, but then saying, “Go and sin no more.” (John 8:11). In other words, Jesus often taught even though I forgive you and am showing you my grace, don’t continue to break My Father’s commands..His law (read Hebrews 10 and Matthew 7). Moreover, Yeshua was actually honoring Abba’s laws by defending the woman for there was not two or three witnesses to testify against her as the Torah prescribes.

The Confusion

The confusion in the letters of Apostle Paul, who wasn’t just a Jew, but a law-abiding Pharisee even as a disciple of Yeshua (Acts 23:6; 24:14-16; 26:5), manifests in many Christians today because Paul described two opposing laws at play: The Law of God (also described as the Law of the Spirit/Christ) verses The Law of Sin and Death (also described as the Law of the flesh/sin/death). When we look at the following verses after Romans 6:14, Paul explains now that we are no longer under the curse of breaking God’s law, which is the law of sin and death, but rather grace. But he writes that just because we now get to experience grace, we should still strive to not sin by breaking God’s laws or being without God’s laws or put another way leading a ‘lawless’ lifestyle as many Christians do today. Hence, why Jesus warns, He will one day say to believers who cast out demons, prophesy, and heal the sick, “Depart from me you workers of lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:21-23). Furthermore, Paul implores we be slaves to righteousness, slaves to God’s law or put another way because we are saved by the grace of God, we should want to obey His ways by becoming slaves to His righteousness..His law.

https___4.bp.blogspot.com_-OAl9OL1C2-0_WS6MGzHttsI_AAAAAAAALck_XLhqT5bUk5A9oiV2wRkY8iooli1e2uZQgCLcB_s1600_Lawlawlessness

Throughout Romans chapters 6, 7, and 8, Paul goes to great lengths attempting to explain these two opposing laws, but says in Chapter 7, verse 1, unless you know the law this will be very confusing. For me, it became much clearer in Romans 7:21-25:

Vs 21: “I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.” (The law of God is designed to give us knowledge of what is good versus evil..to know the will of God – see Romans 2:17-18. For how can we experience God’s grace if we don’t know what is sin?)

Vs 22: “For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.” (But aren’t most modern day preachers teaching the law of God is evil? Rather, breaking the law of God is evil and has a serious consequence – death according to Romans 3:23 and 6:23; hence, the law of sin and death! Breaking God’s law = Sin = Evil = Law of Sin and Death)

Vs 23: “But I see another law in my members (flesh), warring against the law of my mind (Law of God/Spirit), and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin (Law of Sin & Death/flesh), which is in my members (flesh).”

Go to verse 25: “I thank God- through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.” (Law of God vs. Law of Sin)

So you see Paul isn’t saying the Law/Torah/Commandments of God are evil or bad in any way, but rather the consequence or curse (Deuteronomy 30:11-20; Revelation 21:4,7-8; 22:3,14) in breaking the law is a type of bondage or captivity (as proven by the Babylonian captivity when the Jews broke God’s Sabbath and Sabbath rest for the land every 7 years – see 2 Chron.36). He also goes on in Romans 8:2 saying, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” We have died to the curse of breaking the law, the law of sin and death upon believing in Jesus (Paul explains this also in the Book of Galatians). And that the flesh, or the carnal mind is against the law of God, because the flesh wants us to remain in captivity or bondage to sin – only the Spirit can bring us to delight in the law (Romans 8:4-8). Christ’s shed blood freed us from the curse or wages of sin and death, which is the law of sin and death (Romans 3:23; 6:23). All throughout the Torah, the first 5 books of the Bible, referred to by Jesus and the Apostles as the ‘Law’, warns if you break God’s commandments, which is His voice, you will be cursed (Deut.27:26; Lev.18:5; Rom.10:5; Gal.3:10-14). If you unintentionally broke God’s laws, by accident or not knowing it was a sin, the Levitical High Priest could make atonement for your trespass. Whereas, if a person intentionally sinned, they would be killed. You can read some examples of such practices in Numbers 15. Either way, blood would be shed. When Jesus/Yeshua became the perfect, spotless Passover lamb, He bled to death on the cross to make atonement for our tresspasses so that both the Jew and Gentile could experience not just the blessings of keeping God’s covenant/law (see Galatians 3:13-14; Romans 11), but freedom from the curse of breaking God’s law, whether it was an unintentional sin or intentional, an even better blessing! Specifically, upon His ascension to heaven, He became a spiritual High Priest currently mediating on our behalf to Abba Father in heaven as we ongoingly repent for our latest trespasses against God and others (Hebrews 8). Hence, God’s grace and Christ’s role in heaven. The One who died for our trespasses is actively lobbying God on your behalf – talk about grace, not to mention, credibility!

Sadly, in modern day churches, some preach that if you obey God’s law, which we now know is not sinning, you are cheating on Jesus, due to the verse discussed in Romans 6 as well as some verses in Galatians. Ironically, if you break God’s law, you are actually cheating on God/Jesus or rebelling against your Abba Father’s household rules (whichever way you prefer to think of it is the same concept). All throughout the various books in the Bible written by the prophets, YHVH describes those who break God’s commandments/His laws as whores..as adulterers..as those who break His holy covenant (read the Books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea, Daniel, etc). When the 12 tribes of Israel as well as the thousands of ‘mixed-multitude’ (former Egyptians/Gentiles who left Egypt alongside the Israelites/Hebrews) committed themselves saying, “We Do” to God’s covenant (Exodus 24:3), much like us grafted-in Israelites (Romans 11) do upon accepting Christ or re-dedicating ourselves to Him, they essentially married God (to put it in a human understanding). Hence, why He often had the prophets declare those who aligned themselves with the One True God, but defied His laws and their vows, as adulterers. Today, we are betrothed or engaged to Yeshua, His son, about to be in an even better covenant, a new covenant, where we will be married to Him for eternity! He is coming back for His Bride who has a stain-free, blemish-free, spotless wedding dress (2 Corinthians 11:2;Ephesians 5:25-27; Revelation 7:13-14; 19:7-9; 21:1-2,9-10) to make her His lawfully wedded wife, which is why the Book of Revelation says in the New Heaven and New Earth, there is no unclean thing, no lawlessness, no sin and death for the glorious (Rev.21), New Covenant has been consummated – all things are made new without spot or blemish (unclean/lawless/sin).

https___z3news.com_w_wp-content_uploads_2016_03_Bride2-600x293

Moreover, if one’s heart is in love with God/Yeshua, in cooperation, His Spirit will circumcise your heart (Deut.10:14-16;30:6; Jeremiah 4:4; Romans 2:28-19), writing God’s Torah/law on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:31-33; Romans 2:13-16; Hebrews 10:14-17). In other words, because of receiving such a generous gift of dying for our sins (breaking God’s laws), we will WANT to obey God’s laws out of a circumcised, heart full of gratitude…a heart of thanksgiving.

The law without the Spirit produces works of the flesh – dead works…and cannot save you (see Acts 15; Book of Galatians; Ephesians 2:8-13). Just as a body without God breathing into it is dead and a spirit without a body is unproductive as well, so is faith without evidence, without fruit, for in Hebraic mindset, to believe is to do (James 1:21-27; 2:14-26). Think of the law like a structure, or body, or systems in place to function, but without the wind in your lungs causing the blood (of Yeshua) to flow through you, that body is meaningless, useless, and dead. Likewise, we cannot see the Spirit or wind, but we can see the effects of His Spirit, the wind, as it transforms the physical. That is where the two, law and Spirit, become one and in that covenant they produce something beautiful – fruit of the Spirit DAILY not just once in awhile like in the Old Testament when the Spirit of the LORD would fall on people on occasion! Having the Spirit write God’s law on your heart, causing you to obey Him (Ezekiel 36:27), brings life!  In fact, it’s believed the law of God given to Moses and the people of God was given on Shavuot or Pentecost; hence, one reason why such a festival is commanded to be celebrated. Likewise, the Spirit of Holiness, whose purpose is to guide you into holiness, was given on Pentecost/Shavuot (see Acts 2). What is your motive? Are you begrudgingly obeying God’s commands hoping you can earn your salvation or are you wanting to obey Him out of a great love for Him because He first loved you..BECAUSE of your salvation? Abba is looking for cheerful givers!

Religion views obedience as legalistic. Relationship views obedience as love.

love-because-he-first-loved-us-1-jn-4-19

So you see, betrothed ones, out of a circumcised heart, a heart in love, you will no longer be “cheating on Jesus”, rather you will commit and submit unto Him and His way allowing Him to make your heart and your dress beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The Torah IS The Living Torah’s love language. Learn His Voice (Deuteronomy 30; John 10:10), then follow His way, His truth, and reproduce His life.

Shalom and Amen,

An Important Response

http___www.hebraic-roots.com_wp-content_uploads_2017_01_writings-paul-warningRecently, a Facebook friend posted his opinion on G-d’s law and another Facebook friend shared it; hence, how I happen to see it in my news feed. Now that I have seen such erroneous thinking/teaching, I am required to speak up (Ezekiel 33:8-9).

I have copied and pasted his post to speak the truth in love as toxic viruses can quickly spread throughout the body of Messiah and unfortunately, has been since the 4th Century when the Roman Catholic Church persecuted Messianic Jews and Grafted-In Israelites (former Gentiles) for being worshipers of Spirit AND truth according to God’s whole word.

You will find the Facebook friend’s comments in blue italics and my response in bold red lettering. Until Jesus/Yeshua Himself returns, we will continue to teach and correct one another in love (Hebrews 8:11; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). Then Yeshua teaches us all (Isaiah 2; Micah 4). Amen!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Facebook Post:
7 Signs that a church may be law minded and not grace minded
They insist you must try your best to keep the Big 10 in order for God to be pleased with you.
A Spirit-led believer or body of believers, who acknowledges the sanctity and holiness of G-d’s laws/commandments (John 17:17), acknowledges and respects His authority and His omniscience. Those willing to humble themselves by repenting from sin or radically turning away from sin by obeying G-d’s written word understand that the definition of sin is lawlessness/without G-d’s laws/rejection and rebellion to G-d’s authority. “Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.” I John 3:4
lawlessBreaking G-d’s law is to sin and the consequence to breaking G-d’s law is eternal separation from being in covenant with Yahweh. But just as G-d provided grace over and over again to His people throughout the ages (i.e. parting of the Red Sea, Noah’s Ark, saving of some prophets, etc), He provided the blood of grace and His Ruach HaKodesh / His Holy Spirit or put another way the Spirit of Holiness within our hearts/minds. G-d made a way to restore His family. If one indeed believes in the salvation of Yeshua/Jesus,who died for our lawlessness/sins, and if they have received His Spirit of Holiness/Holy Spirit ,and consequently becomes circumcised of the heart (Deut. 10:12-22; 30:6-10; Romans 2:28-29), then the Spirit writes G-d’s Torah on our hearts and causes us to walk in obedience to G-d’s ways (Jeremiah 31:31-33; Ezekiel 36:27), which is His will and His written voice – His laws (Deut. 30; John 10). For the Spirit of Holiness brings us into more and more truth (John 14:15-18; 1 John 2:24-27). What is truth? G-d’s laws…G-d’s word (Psalm 119:30,42). For YHVH/G-d does not change nor lie (Malachi 3:6), but culture and man’s doctrines do.
First problem as gentiles ( non Jews ) we were never under the law , so why now? The only covenant that we were ever offered was the new covenant of grace. Ephesians 2:12-13
  • ¬†“The same law shall apply to the native as to the stranger who sojourns among you.” Exodus 12:49
  • ¬†“There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the alien who sojourns with you.” Numbers 15:16
  • “You shall have one law for him who does anything unintentionally, for him who is native among the sons of Israel and for the alien who sojourns among them.¬†” Numbers 15:29¬†
In fact, G-d frequently tells His chosen people, those in covenant with Him (Deut.7:6-11; 1 Peter 2:9), to not learn the way of the Gentiles (other nations), rather, learn His ways, His will, His truth, His heart: His commandments/His Torah.
  • “not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;” 1 Thessalonians 4:5
  • “And do not pray like the Gentiles…do not be like them..” Matthew 6:7-15
  • “This is what the LORD says: “Do not learn the ways of the nations…” Jeremiah 10:2 (also see Deut. 12:4,29-32; 13:1-8)¬†¬†
  • “Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and LAWLESSNESS, or what fellowship has light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 {Note the antithesis to being right with God (righteousness) is lawlessness (not obeying God’s laws).}
  • “So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord,¬†that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the¬†futility of their mind,¬†18¬†being¬†darkened in their understanding,¬†excluded from the life of God because of the¬†ignorance that is in them, because of the¬†hardness of their heart;¬†19¬†and they, having¬†become callous,¬†have given themselves over to¬†sensuality¬†for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.¬†20¬†But you did not¬†learn¬†Christ in this way,¬†21¬†if indeed you¬†have heard Him and have¬†been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,¬†22¬†that, in reference to your former manner of life, you¬†lay aside the¬†old¬†self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the¬†lusts of deceit,¬†23¬†and that you be¬†renewed in the spirit of your mind,¬†24¬†and¬†put on the¬†new¬†self, which¬†in¬†the likeness of¬†God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.¬†” Ephesians 4:17-24¬†
Again, if you have accepted G-d’s grace for your lawless deeds/sin, then you are no longer a disobedient rebellious Gentile, but rather an immigrated citizen of spiritual Israel/ an Israelite GRATEFUL for His grace and therefore, you will not want to take for granted or abuse that grace nor grieve the Spirit of Holiness (Ephesians 4:30) by continuing to defile yourself with the unclean/unholy deeds (sin). Or as James says, don’t just look in the mirror (G-d’s Torah) and then walk away, but be doers of the word..keep the law!
Second problem . The law is the ministry of death and condemnation. Why would I want to be under that kind of ministry?
2 Corinthians 3:7-9
But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?
For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.
Why not be under the ministry of faith righteousness instead of the law? One brings condemnation and death and the other brings peace and greater glory !
When reading 2 Corinthians 3 in it’s entirety, it is repeating what the Prophets all spoke of regarding the new covenant – we will have the Holy Spirit who will cause us to walk in G-d’s laws for the law in of itself cannot save you – the purpose of the law is to teach us what Abba (Father G-d) considers holy vs unholy, what is love vs hate, what is good vs evil, what is clean vs unclean. Why does Romans 8:5-9 proclaim that the carnal mind or flesh rejects God’s laws (out of a rebellious hardened heart), but a heart circumcised by the Spirit of Holiness will embrace the spiritual, holy, and good laws of Abba and therefore, need not be in fear of His discipline or wrath for some.
Furthermore, according to Romans 8:15, when we receive His Spirit, our hearts cry out “Abba, Father”. Why? Because we accept His authority as our ultimate Father figure and are in relationship with Him. The parable of prodigal son infers similar sentiments – notice the rebellious-know-it-all son lived an unholy lifestyle even dwelling with swine (an unclean animal forbidden by G-d to even touch or handle let alone eat – see Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 or how Yeshua feels about swine when He returns – see Isaiah 65-66). Upon coming into any father’s house, but especially Abba’s House, we must submit to His household rules // kingdom constitution. Likewise, anytime we enter another nation or kingdom, we must obey that nation’s laws.
It is interesting in 2 Corinthians 3:17, the Spirit is referred to as a Spirit of Liberty for we see these same references to obeying and doing G-d’s Laws as liberty in James 2:12 and Psalms 119:44-48. Why? Because being Spirit-led, Spirit-empowered children of G-d or Bride of Yeshua/Christ betrothed/in covenant with Him, we will want to obey or honor our wedding vows for in doing so, there is true liberty. Torah was meant for our GOOD and not burdensome (Deut 5:29; 6:24-25; 10:12-13; Romans 7:12,14; Matt.5:17-19; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; 1 John 5:3). Rather, disobeying G-d’s laws is bondage to sin or as us sailors say, stuck in irons (Read my post ‘Sailing in The Spirit’!).
Third problem. The law is an all or nothing deal . It wasn’t try your best and God will understand.
No ! It was Keep it all (613 laws) or be cursed ! Jesus delivered me from the curse of the law .. so why go back to a curse ? Galatians 3:10-13
torahWhile it is true if you break even just one law, you have sinned or missed the mark and therefore, cursed yourself, for the context of all of Scripture is that you would be cursed by various consequences to your rebellion including eternal death or eternal separation from God (see Deut. 30 and pretty much all of Deuteronomy, for example). Afterall, Torah means “to hit the mark” and “instructions for life”.
Grafted-In Israelites, those adopted into Abba’s household, do not obey G-d’s commands/His laws/His written voice/word to EARN their identity in as His kid; rather, BECAUSE we’ve been adopted into His family, BECAUSE of His grace, BECAUSE of His Son’s shed blood, and out of heart of gratefulness, we WANT to obey G-d’s instructions for life for He is a good, good Abba, who loves us and does not want to see us suffer unnecessarily by thinking we know best and our ways trumps G-d’s ways for our lives (Isaiah 55; Genesis 50:20; Romans 8:28).
Also, we know (because we take the time to study and abide in His word) that the Torah is for our own benefit not for our harm and certainly aren’t burdensome (see above references). Rather, the 613 commandments are Laws of Love – each law falls in the category of love God or love others or both (Mark 12:30-31). Most legit believers follow much of the Torah without even trying simply by loving. The Torah teaches us what love is and what love looks like; hence, Yeshua, the Living Torah in the flesh (John 1). This is the fruit Jesus referred to (Matthew 7) for the law is not evil as some have been deceived in believing thanks to the roots of the Roman Catholic Church and ultimately Satan, but the Spirit and truth of the law produce love, joy, peace, patience, etc.
We believe as the Holy Spirit or Spirit of Holiness guides each of us into more truth of God’s word, we will bear fruit of obedience to God’s ways (word) reflecting our circumcised heart (Deut 30).
¬†It is a sad day when so-called believers view G-d’s instructions for reproof and for righteousness as evil and cursed or put another way, fail to believe G-d is true to His word. Remember, the only Scriptures the Apostles had access to was the Law and Prophets (2 Timothy 3:12-17; 4:2-4; 1 John 2:4-7), which they encouraged one another to continue in.
Moreover, our covenant relationship with Abba/Yeshua comes down to a circumcised repentant heart. For if one is truly circumcised of the heart through repentance for their lawless deeds/sins, they will not want to go back to that same sin for that would be intentionally sinning and nullifying God’s saving grace bringing on a worse judgment (see Hebrews 10:26-39).¬†
abusinggodsgrace
“For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.” Hebrews 10:26-27 (but please read the rest of the passage as well)
Ponder this: How can you embrace grace while rejecting the law defining what is holy and what is sin? What is right and wrong? You can’t. So to do away with the laws of G-d, you have nullified your own doctrine. By saying anything before the cross is irrelevant or done away with, then you have made Christ’s testimony, His sacrifice on the cross, and His victory over death, useless – a waste of time, ink and paper, moreover, a waste of perfect flesh and blood. For without G-d’s holy, spiritual law and the human element of failing to fulfill/uphold/establish/honor it, there is no need for a remedy. No need for a Savior. It’s all or nothing.¬†
Fourth problem. The law makes Christ of no affect in my life .. why would I want Christ severed from my life ? Galatians 5:3-5
False. See last paragraph above. When reading Galatians, Romans, and all the epistles, written by a Messianic Jew, within context from a Hebraic mindset verses a Western Greek mentality, Paul distinguishes that there are two primary “laws” he is speaking of the holy, good, and spiritual “law of God” (Romans 7:12,14) and the consequence/curse of breaking God’s laws, which he often refers to as “the law of sin and death” or “the curse” (Romans 7:22-25; Galatians 3). In fact, Paul specifically clarifies, in Romans 3:31 that the law is NOT done away with due to our faith in Yeshua, but rather, we uphold and establish the law. Furthermore, Galatians 3:15 and vs 17 bluntly says you cannot undo a covenant or add to it. If that were the case, then all the covenants would be dismantled – do women still have pain in childbirth (Adamic Covenant), do you have an ark built (Noahide Covenant)? Because if God’s covenants are done away with, by man’s opinion, rather than being built upon for better promises, then the entire world can flood at once.
  • “Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.¬†” Romans 3:31
Yeshua/ Jesus even demonstrated this to us by raising the standard on the adultery commandment saying if you even look at another lustfully you have committed adultery; Yeshua also reprimanded religion for ADDING to G-d’s laws, something the rabbis over the centuries did through the oral law. Likewise, Scripture and even Jesus/Yeshua rebukes those who take away from G-d’s word/ G-d’s laws (see Deut 12:32; Revelation 22:18). Jesus/Yeshua declared not one part of the law will be done away with until there is a new heaven and new earth and anyone who teaches G-d’s law are irrelevant, done away with, or evil will be considered LEAST in His kingdom (if they even are there in the first place). Have the new heavens and new earth been created yet? Of course not! See Matthew 5:17-19.
In fact, in the millennium reign of Yeshua/Jesus, He TEACHES US the Torah/God’s Laws, see Isaiah 2, Isaiah 51, Micah 4, and notice in Zechariah 14 (after Christ returns), we keep the Feasts of Tabernacles. Ezekiel 36 – 48 corroborates such truth – the laws, the Holy Holidays (feasts of the LORD), and the Sabbath – even the sacrifices are reestablished in the millennium!
So is it possible that G-d’s word is true when it says over and over again that He doesn’t change nor lie and that His commandments are forever? Not to mention, Amos 3:7 says, G-d does nothing without telling His servants the prophets first and there is no record of any true prophet of YHVH/G-d predicting G-d’s laws will be done away with. However, there is plenty of Scriptures warning of false prophets and false teachers in the latter days deceiving people into thinking G-d’s laws are done away with while leading others into error and even destruction.
  • 2 Peter 3:15-18 :”¬†Also, regard the patience of our Lord as an opportunity for salvation, just as our dear brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.¬†16¬†He speaks about these things in all his letters in which there are some matters that are hard to understand. The untaught and unstable twist them to their own destruction,¬†as they also do with the rest of the Scriptures.
  • 17¬†Therefore, dear friends, since you know this in advance, be on your guard,¬†so that you are not led away by the error of lawless people and fall from your own stability.¬†18¬†But grow in the grace and knowledge¬†of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.¬†Amen.”
Fifth Problem . The law wasn’t t given to help us overcome sin, but it was actually given to help sin overcome us!
The law gives strength to sin not freedom from it . Only grace sets us free from the dominion of sin .. Romans 7:9-11 Romans 6:14
WHAT?! False. The law defines what is good verses evil – breaking G-d’s law is sin (I John 3:4). Again, totally twisting Scripture and misapplying which law Paul is referring to – context is everything (see previous comments).
The Spirit of Holiness, if one has it and submits to it, will obey what is holy: G-d’s laws. See above Scriptures provided and below.
Sixth problem .We are suppose to be dead to the law not alive to it! We cannot bear true fruit unless we see ourselves dead to the law and married to Christ.Rom 7:4. Also flirting with Moses is cheating on Jesus !
WOW. Again, false and twisted. This is why Peter warned that people who do not know the law and prophets will twist the word leading people to error. Please study the Books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea, Ezekiel and actually all the prophets for they **repeatedly** express that cheating on G-d is not obeying His commandments taught by Moses! In fact, He calls out and significantly reprimands Israel for doing so (See Proverbs 1 – 7; Isaiah 50:1; Jeremiah 9:13-16; Jeremiah 11; Book of Hosea; Ezekiel 16,20,22,23). That’s why it is called a new or renewed covenant with Israel and enlarged Israel (those grafted-in through their faith in the Yeshua The Messiah) for through Jesus/Yeshua paying the penalty of breaking the law by shedding His blood on the cross as the perfect Passover lamb, the Israel (as well as Gentiles/Grafted-In Israelites) can be back in and participate in the holy covenant (as the Book of Daniel refers to it as). See Romans 7-11. Therefore, upon believing Yeshua is the Messiah (Isaiah 53) who died for our lawlessness and therefore, the consequence of said lawlessness, we are considered dead to the law of sin and death aka the curse – freed from the bondage of sin and now given an empowering life or gift called the Holy Spirit who will cause us to obey G-d’s laws by teaching us them to us and reminding us about them if we are in covenant with Abba Father through Yeshua. Or put another way, if we are betrothed to Yeshua, whichever analogy one prefers, they both convey the same message: relationship.
torahonourhearts
See Jeremiah 31:31-33; Ezekiel 36:27; Hebrews 8:8-13.
Furthermore, notice not only is the “renewed/new” covenant NOT with the Gentiles, but only the House of Israel (including us grafted-in Israelites) and House of Judah generally referred to in the apostolic writings as simply “Israel” or the Jewish people. Second, notice the job of the Ruach/Spirit (the Holy Spirit) is to write G-d’s Torah/law on our hearts and minds causing us to obey Him. Otherwise, we walk in a spirit of UNholiness or an UNholy spirit… in bondage.
Seventh problem . The law was given to point us to Christ, but once in Christ then we are are no longer under the law , for we are now in Christ and Christ now lives in us. We are under a new law called the law of the spirit of life in Christ. The law was for the old nature , not the new .
Again, false. The law was given as a tutor..as instructions – all of which points to Christ and our failure to obey, a need for a Savior a need for a solution making a way for us to be in covenant/relationship with G-d.
Ever since the fall of mankind..ever since Satan twisted G-d’s word/command making Eve (and Adam, by default) believe in a twisted version of G-d’s word, much like the false teachers of today do, people have believed G-d’s commands aren’t to be obeyed and there are no consequences to our rebellion. Thankfully, with the Spirit of Grace, we not only have forgiveness, but true repentant, obedient hearts respectfully want to honor our Heavenly Father..Abba. Not to earn sonship or daughtership, but because we have been graciously adopted in, we want to abide in Him, His House, His Kingdom as His will and word repeatedly speak of. Jesus/Yeshua says to those who think they know Him to depart from Him, you who practice lawlessness (Matthew 7). 1 John 2:4 says if you know Him and don’t keep G-d’s commands, then you are a liar.
Lastly, consider this:
how-to-know-god_833_460_80_c1Why is the Anti-Christ/Anti-Messiah and THAT spirit referred to as the “lawless one” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12)? Why does the “lawless one” or beast /harlot system/mentality spoken of in the Books of Daniel, Thessalonians, and Revelation persecute the saints who KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF G-D AND HAVE FAITH IN YESHUA (Revelation 12:17 ; 14:12), but don’t mention any other group? Why does the Book of Revelation refer to “saints” as those “who keep God’s commands and have the testimony of Jesus”? Why doesn’t it read the “lawless one” makes war with those who believe in Jesus, but who refuse to obey TORAH? Rather, the beast/proverbial Babylon/the proverbial adulterous world (remember cheating on G-d/Yeshua above) just want to persecute those saints/those spiritual virgins/spiritual Israel/the spotless Bride of Yeshua who recognize they’ve been saved by grace from lawlessness to a lawful lifestyle of holiness! Because true saints, full of the Spirit of Holiness, have both the Torah and Jesus in their hearts. Because when we are worshipers of Spirit (John 3:3-6) and truth (Psalm 119:30,42), the atmosphere changes..the world is turned upside down for the glory of the One True G-d, YHVH, our Abba! The 12 Apostles changed the world because they understood the importance of G-d’s law and grace..His truth and Spirit transforms people! THAT is the good news and the ultimate true love story. That is what grace is about.¬†
Sailing in The Spirit
While sailing, the sailor must be in alignment with the wind or they are stuck in bondage called “in-irons”. Woven along each sail are strings called the “telltales” because they tell if you and thereby your vessel are in alignment with the wind. The telltales will be flowing horizontally when your vessel is in alignment with the wind.
Similarly, when we as followers of Yeshua/Jesus are NOT in alignment with His Holy Spirit/the Spirit of Holiness also known as wind, we too will be stuck “in-irons” or bondage as slaves to sin..slaves to lawlessness. For we know the “telltale” signs or results of being in alignment with Yahweh’s Wind, we will cheerfully and willingly “horizontally” submit unto His Holy Wind… The telltales of our “course” is our obedience unto Him and His directions found in His Holy perfect Word.
Obedience to Abba’s ways..His will..His laws aren’t bondage, but liberty. Rather, rebellion is stuck in-irons to sin.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entan gled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1 (Free from the consequence of sin! Avoid the law of sin and death//lawlessness see 1 John 3:4, but embrace the law of God//law of the Spirit of life Romans 7:22-8:10)
“So shall I keep Your law continually, forever and ever. And I will walk (or sail) at liberty, For I seek Your precepts.” Psalm 119:44-45
Why Wormwood?
(Recorded Jan 9, 2019) In this follow up recording from the previous one (see ‘The Jesus Jackpot 777’), Carrie shares a specific revelation regarding the 3rd Trumpet, Wormwood. #Wormwood #GreatShaking #prophecy #3rdtrumpet
The “great shaking” to come is *because* of the ignorance and rebellious, bitter hearts of the grafted-in Israelites’ sin..the church’s adultery..the failure to “know” Him (Jeremiah 9:3, 13-17; Hosea 4:6) for history will repeat itself (more on that later)..The “great shaking” will come for failure to obey His Voice, which is His Torah, His commandments, His instructions for life. See Isaiah 24..notice in verse 5 why there will be a “great shaking” (vs20-21) “Because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the ***everlasting covenant***.” Also, if you take the time to read¬† Jeremiah 9:15-16, Jeremiah 23, as well as Deuteronomy 23-29, you will discover the same warning. Because His so-called people fail to love Him by keeping their covenant, by keeping their wedding vows, G-d’s instructions of love (the Torah), He sends Wormwood. Sound familiar? Where else do we see Wormwood? Revelation 8:10-11, the 3rd trumpet.
But what is lawlessness? Always let Scripture define Scripture, not man. I John 3:4 specifically defines sin as lawlessness… not keeping or breaking G-d’s laws. 2 Thessalonians 2 also reveals the AntiMessiah or AntiChrist spirit is opposed to G-d’s laws and called the lawless one. Similarly, Daniel 11:28,30,32 as well as Revelation 12:17 and Rev.14:12 reveal the AntiMessiah and his followers will specifically go after those who keep G-d’s “holy covenant“…He and the beastly false system and false religion will go after saints who “keep G-d’s commandments and have the faith in Yeshua/Jesus“. Likewise Romans 8:5-11 reveals the flesh will be against G-d’s laws, but the Spirit will cause you to walk in them (also see Ezekiel 36:27; Jeremiah 31:31-33). lawless
Furthermore, if a spirit is telling folks to disobey the ways of G-d, the laws of G-d, then that is NOT the holy Spirit for the Spirit of holiness dwelling within will reveal to you the law is holy (Romans 7:12, 22) and the law is truth (Psalm 119:142; Proverbs 3), the law is good doctrine (Proverbs 4:2; 1 Timothy 3:16-17) and the law should be very important to us (Proverbs 7:1-3) as the ways of G-d/laws define good and evil..they define what G-d considers to be love. Even Yeshua preached that He did not come to do away with the law and prophets, but He came to show us how to fulfill..how to keep them (Matthew 5:17-19). After all, Jesus/Yeshua IS the Living Torah (John 1). Yeshua/Jesus further said anyone who teaches others that G-d’s laws are done away with will be considered **least** in His kingdom. He even explained that unless there is a new heaven and new earth, not one part of G-d’s laws are done away with.
slide_35As if all that wasn’t enough, please understand we must refrain from not only taking verses out of context, but from reading them through a Western/Greek perspective when they are written by Messianic Jews for Peter warns many will twist Paul’s word and lead people to lawlessness (2 Peter 3:14-18). Also, ponder the fact that when Yeshua returns to reign on earth, He teaches us the laws of G-d (see Isaiah 2, Micah 4) and we keep the feasts of the Lord (see Zechariah 14) and G-d’s laws, even the sacrifices, are reinstated (see Ezekiel 36+). So, knowing all this, why would the majority of Scripture advocate the importance of honoring our Heavenly Father by obeying His Voice, His written word, His Torah, but then say in this era it is no longer relevant, but when He returns it will be?
whywormwood
Here is how history (in a sense) will repeat itself, beloveds. Despite being told and warned numerous times, despite having G-d’s word and gracious acts of redemption (i.e. freeing them from Egypt – see Numbers 15:37-41), the House of Israel and the House of Judah continually broke G-d’s covenant by not submitting to it, to His Torah / law / His way / His instructions for life, forcing Yah to cut the House of Israel (the 10 northern tribes)off through divorce while severely punishing the House of Judah by sending them into captivity (Isaiah 50:1;Jeremiah 3:8; Jeremiah 9:13-16; Jeremiah 11). Similarly, many Christians have G-d’s word in print and readily available, not to mention, the example of the Living Word/ the Living Torah, meaning Yeshua/Jesus’s life, and yet many choose to rebel and disobey G-d’s word/Torah and other critical inspired writings, which define and explain His offered covenant. But why? More on that in a moment.
imagesOver and over again all throughout the books of the prophets, the Spirit of G-d would fall on and cause the prophets to implore the Israelites (both houses, the north and the south), to repent, to turn back to following the way G-d instructed. But the Israelites (and “strangers” within their group see Exodus 12:49; Numbers 15:15) refused to obey His Voice -His Word- His Torah; rather, they committed adultery by doing what THEY thought was best – their OWN theology – their OWN doctrines instead of heeding to the Torah, the Word. They continually tweeked their faith or religion or abandoned it all together to fit their own deceived hearts, their own agendas, their own ideologies. Historically, Jews have added to G-d’s laws while Christians subtract from them (Deut 4:2; 12:32). Consequently and finally, because of their ongoing adulterous ways, G-d divorced Israel (Isaiah 50) after many many years of patiently beckoning them to honor Him and their covenant (marriage vows). Hence, why Yeshua/Jesus, the Living Word, the Torah in the flesh (John 1), perfectly lived out G-d’s Instructions/law and and even obeyed the law unto the point of death by dying for the LAWLESS ways (sin – see 1 John 3:4) of His adulterous ex-wife and world in general (John 3:16-21). When Yeshua, the perfect Passover Lamb of G-d died (lots of metaphors in the Scriptures), G-d/Yeshua provided away for Israel to again be in covenant with G-d for now upon the former husband dying, the x-wife (so to speak) being Israel could now be engaged/betrothed/eventually marry G-d again and be in a renewed covenant with Him (see Romans 7:1-12)! HalleluYah!
images (1)G-d, in His all-knowing ways and graciousness, made a way for His bride to remain in covenant with Him by providing the promise, like an spiritual engagement ring, or symbol, that being the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of Grace, an empowering Spirit to remind her and counsel her in G-d’s desires, bringing His bride into a deeper, intimate, submissive covenant with Him for the job of the Spirit is to remind and bring His bride into all truth (John 14:15-18; 1 John 2:24-27), into a greater knowing of her beloved by causing her to honor their covenant..causing her to walk in His statutes..His laws…His Torah..His covenant vows (see Ezekiel 36:27; Jeremiah 31:33; John 14:15-21; Romans 7:4-6; Romans 8:1-10; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:17-30; Hebrews 10:26-32; James 1:22-25; 1 John 1:4-7; 3:18, 24, 4:12-13; 5:3). After all, Scripture and Yeshua reveal His ways are not too hard or burdensome, but were designed for their/our own good.. for their own wisdom and righteousness (Deuteronomy 5:29; 6:24-25; 10:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; 1 John 5:3). This is why it says there is no fear in love on judgment day (1 John 4:17-19) because the truth, being G-d’s Torah, His Word (Psalm 119:142; John 17:17), is hopefully being perfected in us, sanctifying us, through our obedience to it as the Spirit highlights more and more intimate truths to us causing us to surrender and cheerfully give of ourselves (2 Corinthians 9:6-15) in obedience. This, dear brothers and sisters, is what Yeshua/Jesus meant when He said the Father is looking for worshippers of Spirit (John 3:3-8) and truth (Psalm 119:142). He made a way for us to live righteously, the way He intended in covenant with Him, but graciously provided a better “promise” (Acts 1:4-8; Hebrews 8:6) to teach us and empower us to do so!
how-to-know-god_833_460_80_c1As stated earlier, there will indeed be a great shaking for we fail to “know” (Jeremiah 9:3,13-16; Hosea 4:6) our Messiah, our G-d, and fail to love Him even after He offered his abundant and amazing grace. Incidentally, notice in Jeremiah 9:15, the Lord reveals He will send forth Wormwood and verses 13-14 tell us why. Where else do we learn about ‘Wormwood’? Revelation 8:10-11.
IF one genuinely has received the Spirit (Acts 19:2), the Spirit, in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11) will cause the flesh to submit to G-d and His laws of love (Ezekiel 36:27; Jeremiah 31:33; Romans 8:4,8,9,14), not to earn salvation, but BECAUSE of His grace we will WANT to love Him the way He wants to be loved. The Torah is His love language – for G-d does not change nor lie (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17) – He is not psycho, but rather, Sovereign. HalleluYah!
downloadThe Spirit will cause us to grow in an intimate and reproducing relationship with Him..fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5) for the two will become one. The husband/wife, physical/spiritual, heaven/earth, G-d/His Son, Spirit/Truth, House of Israel/House of Judah, Gentile/Jew, the two olive trees, are one. There are always at least 2 witnesses, per the Torah, for better or worse. What does the world witness in your life? Are we like the Jews only having the truth/Torah, but no Spirit, or are we like the typical Christian, having a “spirit” without the truth/Torah? The two are one and both will testify against us one day, for better or worse. You cannot add to the law like the Jews nor subtract from it like the Christians (Deut 4:2; 12:32). May we come into a greater depth recognizing we are grafted-in to the Commonwealth of Israel and the fruit as worshippers of spirit and truth is to provoke not just others to want an authentic relationship with Abba Father through Yeshua, His Son, but to provoke our elder brother Judah to also want an intimate and obedient relationship with Yeshua, The Messiah (Romans 11).
lifehopeandtruth_1_john_5_3_10_commandments_list_833_460_80_c1So long as some continue to twist Paul’s words, a Messianic Jew, by the way, false teachers pave their own destruction while leading others to the error of the lawless/torah-less (2 Peter 3:14-18), they will never provoke the Jews to be jealous of our relationship with the Father. False teachers and their lawless followers prevent the salvation of our big brother Judah for Scriptures warn to never follow a “god” that teaches them to not obey G-d’s laws (Deut chapters 13 & 18). Hence, why Jews today see “Jesus” as a false god/prophet/teacher/imposter – not because of Yeshua, but because of false teachers and their followers’ preaching He was lawless.
Unless the Spirit gives the eyes to see and the ears to hear the truth, these truths will be hidden. In the end, the world will be forced to accept The Lawgiver (Isaiah 33:22; James 4:12; Isaiah 51:4; Genesis 49:10).
Matthew 7:22-23 ; Proverbs 28:9
